Position Information
Gledswood Hills High School is the new high school supporting the communities of Gregory Hills and Gledswood Hills. In 2026, the school supports approximately 250 Year 7 and 8 students. The new school build is expected to be open in Term 1, 2027 with Year 7, 8 and 9 students, and an additional year group will be added annually. The first HSC cohort will be 2030, and it is anticipated that a supported learning unit will be at the school when the school moves to the permanent site.
The school will have close links with Gregory Hills Public School and Gledswood Hills Public School, as partner schools.
This teacher position will be for a Learning and Support Teacher (Secondary). The teacher will be responsible for providing specialist assistance to students in regular classes with additional learning and support needs. In addition, the role will require the successful candidate to collaboratively plan, implement, monitor and evaluate personalised learning and support for students with a range of learning needs.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach students with learning and support needs secondary and/or experience teaching students with learning and support needs secondary in regular classes.
2. Demonstrated capacity to provide targeted support to students in mainstream classes, while supporting teachers to implement inclusive practices.
3.Knowledge and capacity to collaboratively plan, implement, monitor and evaluate personalised learning and support for students with a range of learning needs that lead to improved learning and wellbeing outcomes.
4.Highly developed interpersonal, administrative, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with teachers, school support staff, students and parents.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
This is a permanent part-time position for 3 days per week 0.6 FTE (Full-time equivalent)
