Position Information

Evans High School, a comprehensive, co-educational secondary school has served the South Blacktown community since 1973. The school caters for over 880 students (4% Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, 70% Language Other than English and 28% EAL/D learners) and provides a broad curriculum, including the full range of academic subjects as well as a number of vocational education pathways to ensure all students have the opportunity to achieve their career pathways.  

As a school, we have invested in the future of our students by implementing the extensive use of technology in our teaching and learning programs. Our talented staff also lead students in the exploration of emerging technologies within education through our dedicated STEM room, state of the art performing arts centre, commercial kitchens as well as innovative and engaging programs which aim to prepare students for the world beyond the school gates.

Our quality learning environments are supported by highly qualified professional teaching and educational support staff who deliver data informed practice with explicit teaching and high expectations. Collaboration across the school of staff teams drives school improvement. 

This position is based in the HSIE Faculty with a team of highly experienced, visible and innovative educators. There is an expectation of participation in whole school events and programs.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approved to teach Commerce and Legal Studies. Approved or willingness to teach 7-10 History and Geography.
  2. Demonstrated ability to develop quality teaching resources, relevant to students with a diverse range of learning needs, cultural backgrounds and personal interests.

  3. Demonstrated ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a learning environment that is based on positive relationships with students and is engaging, inclusive and fosters a culture of high expectations.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
