Position Information
Broken Hill High School is a comprehensive high school with 435 students (24% Aboriginal) in Far West New South Wales. The school is proud of its academic, cultural and sporting achievements as well as catering for all students. The school has 7 support classes for students with learning support needs. The school has an ongoing partnership and shares some senior curriculum with a neighbouring high school. Strong community ties are evident through the P&C as well as partnerships with the Clontarf foundation to assist Aboriginal boys with their education and career pathways. The school has a strong welfare focus and is a HPGE partner school.
Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach Modern History. Willingness to teach History (7-10) and Geography (7-10).
Ability to work as a collaborative member of the HSIE faculty and contribute to designing, implementing and evaluating high quality differentiated teaching and learning programs and assessments.
Ability to create inclusive learning environments to engage, challenge and support a diverse range of students including HPGE and students needing additional support.
Ability to effectively and respectfully implement Aboriginal perspectives throughout the curriculum.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
