Position Information

Guildford West Public School is an amazing school with a large number of NSEB families. Guildford West Public School has a current student enrolment of 379. This includes 79% of students from a Language Background Other Than English. There are currently 10 students who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander. There is a strong emphasis on inclusion across the school with wellbeing being a whole-school priority. As a school K-2 embeds the Walker Learning pedagogy and Science of Reading, whilst in 3-6 there is a strong focus on explicit teaching of literacy. 2025 will see a focus Explicit Teaching in Mathematics, including Daily reviews  As a whole school we have a Paddock to Plate program where all students K-6 experience the garden and kitchen as part of their learning. 

There is a strong emphasis on inclusion across the school with wellbeing being a whole-school priority. The school is an active Positive Behaviour for Learning (PBL) school that has its journey with Real Schools and restorative practices. Guildford West Public School has a school-wide culture of high expectations and a shared sense of responsibility for student engagement, learning, development, and success.

Specific Selection Criteria
  • Approval to teach Infants and Primary (K-6) with an ability to implement explicit literacy and numeracy programs using evidence and data to inform practice to support and extend a diverse range of learners.
  • Highly developed communication, organisation and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work flexibly as part of a collaborative team to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the broader community.
  • Capacity to create a positive classroom learning environment and support students through effective classroom and behaviour management skills that enhance learning, engagement, and wellbeing.

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
