Position Information
Braidwood Central School, located on the southern tablelands of New South Wales, is one of the oldest continually operating schools in the state. It is positioned 86 km from Canberra and 62 km from the coast, offering a rural environment with a diverse population interested in agriculture, the arts, and hospitality. The school features excellent facilities that blend modern and well-maintained learning environments.
With 345 students, including 4% identifying as Aboriginal, Braidwood Central School provides a quality K-12 education. Strong partnerships with external service providers enhance curriculum delivery and student wellbeing programs. The curriculum focuses on foundational learning for K-6 and offers a diverse range of subjects in 7-12, including school-based apprenticeships and a support unit for students with diverse learning needs.
The school is dedicated to preparing students for their future pathways through high-impact teaching strategies and a focus on individual growth. With 38 teachers and 26 support staff, the team collaborates to meet all students' learning needs. The school plans to utilise equity funding for initiatives outlined in the 2024-2027 Strategic Improvement Plan, particularly to improve reading and numeracy outcomes, while also providing various extracurricular activities in cultural, leadership, sports, and performing arts.
Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval and demonstrated ability to teach geography (years 7-10).
- Demonstrated ability to adapt the curriculum to cater to diverse learning styles and needs to effectively ensure that all students have meaningful learning opportunities
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work in a collaborative faculty, supporting whole school initiatives and developing positive relationships with all members of the school community.
Conditions
A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
