Position Information

Fairfield High School is a comprehensive high school with an enrolment of 1033 students, including 97% from a non-English speaking background. The school has a Special Education Unit catering for students with mild and moderate intellectual disabilities. A well-established Intensive English Centre is located onsite as part of the school comprising international students as well as students from refugee backgrounds. The Fairfield High School has a balance of early career and experienced staff who focus on the delivery of a broad curriculum catering for the needs of individual learners, including EALD and HPGE students. The CARE (Community, Achievement, Respect and Environment) code underpins the ethos of the school and forms a basis for positive behaviour for learning. Fairfield High School has a well-established parent group with embedded parent and community engagement programs to support student learning and build knowledge and skills for the wider community.

The school is situated on an 18-hectare site which houses state of the art facilities including: well organised science laboratories, commercial kitchens, refurbished Timber workshops, Ultimate Soccer fields, weights room, gymnasium, a barber training facility, and a performing arts and drama studio.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach. Willingness to teach as a Generalist (Years 7 -10).

Demonstrated ability to manage and engage students and differentiate the curriculum to meet the individual learning needs of students.

Ability to work as part of a team, with well-developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, parents and the community.

 

 

 

Conditions

The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply)

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
