Position Information

Bowral High School acknowledges its location on Gundungurra land and was established at this site in 1929. We are a comprehensive high school with a virtual selective stream and Support Unit of seven classes in the NSW Southern Highlands. The student enrolment of 580 includes 61 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and an increasing number of culturally and linguistically diverse students. The school has a Family Occupation and Educational Index (FOEI) of 112 and serves families from Bowral, Mittagong and the northern villages of the Southern Highlands. Through effective partnerships, Bowral High School has worked with our primary school partners to strengthen high school transition and with the broader community to build successful pathways beyond school, including work experience, vocational education and training, school based traineeships and apprenticeships, university access and TAFE.

 

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach French.

Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively to contribute to faculty and whole school programs.

Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and families. 

Ability to use effective classroom management skills and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging and fosters a culture of high expectations. 

 

Conditions

The successful applicant may be eligible to receive a one-off recruitment payment of $20,000. (Conditions apply)

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
