Position Information
Inverell High School is a rural, comprehensive, co-educational high school with an enrolment of 490 students. A significant number of our students are from a low SES background and 29.6% identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islanders. Our school provides learning environments that cater for individual student learning needs, as well as opportunities that allow all students to develop to their full potential. We have a Support Unit including classes for mild, moderate and severe intellectual disabilities, as well as four multi-categorical classes. A strong and well-recognised culture of inclusion and achievement is supported by extensive wellbeing initiatives. The school ensures students have a balanced, well-rounded education with access to a diverse range of academic, sporting, creative and cultural opportunities. There is a strong tradition of student and parent participation, and the school maintains productive links with local businesses and organisations.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Approval to teach Food Technology and Approval to teach or preparedness to undertake VET teacher training in VHO - Hospitality- commercial cookery (VET), providing the qualification entry benchmark is met.
2. Demonstrated capacity to work as an effective team member of a diverse faculty and a commitment to whole-school programs.
3. Proven ability in classroom management and the capacity to manage practical workspaces to ensure student safety, participation and engagement to enhance student learning opportunities.
4. Well-developed Interpersonal skills with the ability to establish positive working relationships with staff, students and the
Conditions
A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
