Position Information

Granville Boys High School (811 students), 98% Non-English-Speaking Background, is a partially selective secondary school for boys with a selective class in each of the years from 7 – 10 as well as enrichment classes in each of the junior years. Our culturally diverse school nurtures inclusivity, personal responsibility, and friendship. The school moto is ‘Aiming for Excellence’ and has a strong academic focus that includes a Saturday tutoring program and a Robotics program. GBHS has its own work skills programs which includes a Barber Shop and the Pulse Café. Our school is located in the South-Western Sydney, which is the most multicultural region of Australia. Through our partnerships with universities, local businesses and the wider community, we provide our boys with quality teaching and learning opportunities in order to prepare for life beyond school.

Specific Selection Criteria
  1. Approval to teach English / HSIE 7-10
  2.  Demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively within a faculty and across the school with a commitment to developing quality teaching and learning programs, lessons and resources.

  3. Demonstrated capacity to improve students' literacy skills through quality teaching practices

  4. Highly developed interpersonal, communication and organisational skills to build positive relationships with the students, staff, parents and the wider community
Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
