Position Information
Woolgoolga High School is located 25km north of Coffs Harbour. The school is home to students from varied backgrounds including a large Sikh community. Woolgoolga High School has quality facilities and is located in a natural bushland and coastal environment. The current enrolment is 915 students, including 126 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students. The school is situated on the traditional lands of the Gumbaynggirr people whose language is part of the school curriculum. Woolgoolga High School is currently embarking on a significant technology direction and is a school where students are treated with respect and as individuals. An exemplary student wellbeing system is in place and learning is our priority. The focus areas are literacy, numeracy, Aboriginal education and maximising student engagement.
Specific Selection Criteria
1. Demonstrated ability teaching the Senior English syllabus with the experience and/or skills and knowledge to teach English Extension 1 and 2.
2. Demonstrated ability to contribute actively to the design, implementation and evaluation of high-quality teaching and learning programs that target high performance learners, differentiation, and the literacy of students with diverse learning needs.
3. Demonstrate effective classroom management skills and practices that promote an engaging and inclusive learning environment fostering a culture of high expectations.
4. Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, communications and organisational skills to build positive relationships with staff, students, and the school community.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
