Position Information
Gunnedah High School is a welcoming, comprehensive high school central to the Connected Communities Strategy. Located 78 kilometers west of Tamworth in the New England region of NSW, it serves Gunnedah and surrounding rural areas, including Boggabri, Mullaley, and Somerton. With a current enrolment of 410 students, 53% identifying as Aboriginal, the school is committed to meeting diverse student needs through tailored learning pathways and career-focused opportunities.
The school features a Special Education Unit with five MC classes, one IM class, and a Tutorial Centre from 2025, ensuring every student is known, valued, and cared for. Specific Selection Criteria
Approval to teach English 7 - 10
- Well-developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills with the capacity to work collaboratively and empathetically with teachers, support staff, parents and agencies.
- Capacity to implement effective classroom management strategies and contribute to differentiated teaching and learning programs to maximise student growth and promote high expectations for all students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE.
