Position Information
Gilgandra High School is an inclusive, culturally diverse rural school residing on Wiradjuri, Kamilaroi and Wailwan Land, with a student body of 189, of whom 41% identify as Aboriginal. Gilgandra High School has a strong tradition of academic, agricultural and sporting success, with skilled teachers that have a broad range of experiences, who value academic excellence and readily cater for all student learning styles and abilities. Gilgandra High School has three Multi-Categorical classes and a Tutorial Centre catering for students with additional needs. The systems for student behaviour and learning are strongly supported through the Wellbeing Framework and the Wellbeing Hub (Bundyi Baayay), underpinning the strong student wellbeing ethos in the school.
Students consistently achieve their desired post school options, including university placement, apprenticeships and traineeships. Gilgandra High School has well-maintained facilities, including three trade-training centres, relationships with tertiary institutions and Wiradjuri language; providing an inclusive curriculum, ensuring student interests, academic levels and goals are supported. Our school has strong relationships with the feeder primary schools in the area who support our effective transition programs.

Specific Selection Criteria
- Approval to teach English Years 7-12.
- Highly developed communication skills with the ability to establish positive, respectful relationships with students, staff and families.
- Capacity to differentiate learning experiences to engage, challenge and inspire a diverse range of learners for them to achieve academic growth.
- Ability to effectively manage the classroom and to implement effective teaching and learning practices, in an innovative learning environment.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Applicants seeking either permanent full time or permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. If the recommended applicant is seeking permanent part time employment (FTE from 0.1 to 0.9 inclusive), they will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE. Applicants on the eligibility list will be offered the remaining FTE but are not obliged to accept. Further information can be found on the merit selection webpage.
Successful applicants may be entitled to a Recruitment Bonus of $20,000 (Conditions Apply). The Recruitment Bonus will be paid on a pro rata basis for permanent part-time teachers and executive staff. The maximum recruitment bonus available for a position is $20,000, including any job share arrangements.
A Relocation Support Payment of $5,000 up to $8,000 will be available for eligible applicants.
