Position Information
J. J. Cahill Memorial High School is an inclusive, comprehensive school providing meaningful learning opportunities. Located in Mascot, a fast-growing residential area, the school serves students with diverse academic abilities and from varied cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Current enrolments are about 300, including 24 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander students and 69 identified as EAL/D. The support unit caters to students with mild to moderate intellectual disabilities and autism. Small class sizes allow more personalised learning and targeted support to meet individual needs.
J. J. Cahill Memorial High School focuses strongly on community and works closely with families to support student learning and wellbeing. Teaching and learning programs use evidence-based practices with a strategic focus on improving outcomes. JJCMHS fosters an environment that promotes engagement, challenging students to strive for success. The school proudly offers a variety of academic, sporting, cultural, vocational, and growing creative and performing arts programs. It adopts a trauma-informed, strengths-based approach encouraging students to engage in their learning and develop prosocial behaviours and responsible attitudes.
Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Careers. 

Demonstrated ability to initiate and manage effective Careers programs that address student needs and align with school priorities. 

Proven ability to collaborate effectively with staff, parents and external bodies to enhance student pathways.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
