Position Information

Chester Hill High School (CHHS) is a comprehensive, co–educational secondary school situated in south-western Sydney and is part of the Auburn Schools Educational Network. The school encompasses an Intensive English Centre and has one Inclusive Support Class. Chester Hill High School has a current student enrolment of 1046 (872 mainstream, 174 IEC). The school is culturally diverse, with 80% of students possessing a language background other than English. Chester Hill High School has approximately 80 refugee or refugee–like students and a growing number of students with an Aboriginal background. The school's FOEI is 160.  All students are encouraged to achieve in an environment that provides academic challenge and artistic, cultural and sporting opportunities. Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach careers or currently undertaking the Careers Adviser qualifications approved by the New South Wales Department of Education.

Ability to provide tailored career advice to align with students’ strengths and aspirations, including guiding students in exploring post-school pathways, such as university, TAFE, apprenticeships/traineeships, and the workforce.

Highly developed interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills to collaborate effectively with staff, students, parents, and key stakeholders such as employers, external agencies and training providers.

Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and implement careers programs and initiatives that support student engagement, pathway development, and post-school readiness.
 

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
