About the Role

We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Teacher Aides to join our high school community, providing tailored support to students with disabilities, including physical impairment, intellectual disability, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and other disabilities. This role is pivotal in fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, ensuring all students have equal access to education. The role will also involve supporting a high-needs student with physical impairment, including toileting and assisting with mobility around the school.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Assisting classroom teachers in delivering individualised educational programs for students with diverse learning needs.
  • Providing one-on-one and small group support to facilitate student participation in classroom activities.
  • Supporting students requiring assistive technology to communicate effectively.
  • Implementing and supporting behaviour management strategies in line with individual student plans.
  • Assisting with personal care needs, including toileting, mobility, and feeding, as required.

This role would suit individuals who are passionate about creating an inclusive learning environment and supporting students with diverse needs to achieve their full potential.

About You

The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Experience working with students with disabilities in an educational setting.
  • Understanding the needs of students with physical impairments, intellectual disabilities, ASD, and ADHD.
  • Ability to implement individualised learning strategies and behaviour management plans.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and families.
  • Formal training in first aid and CPR, or willingness to obtain these qualifications.
