About the Role

As the Workshop Teacher Aide, your key responsibilities will include, but not limited to :

  • Supporting Safe Workshop Practices:
    • Promoting and adhering to safe workshop practices at all times.
    • Assisting with the supervision of students in a workshop setting to ensure compliance with safety guidelines.
  • Preparation of Materials:
    • Preparing materials for class, including cutting timber, metal, and other materials to specified sizes.
    • Assisting with the organization and storage of prepared materials for easy access during classes.
  • Ordering and Inventory Management:
    • Managing the stock and ordering of materials, tools, and equipment as needed.
    • Maintaining an accurate inventory of workshop resources to support class activities.
  • Tool and Equipment Organization and Maintenance:
    • Organizing tools, hardware, and other workshop equipment for efficient access and storage.
    • Conducting routine maintenance checks and minor repairs on machinery and tools as needed.
    • Identifying any issues with equipment and notifying the appropriate staff for repairs or replacements.
  • Machinery Operation and Training:
    • Operating various workshop equipment and machinery, or demonstrating a willingness to learn as required.
    • Assisting teachers in instructing students on the safe and proper use of machinery and tools.
  • Adaptability and Task Prioritization:
    • Demonstrating flexibility in adjusting tasks and priorities as needed within a dynamic workshop environment.
    • Collaborating with teachers to identify and prioritize tasks that support the workshop's learning objectives.

Additional Requirements

  • A Working with Children Check clearance (Blue Card) for working with students.
  • Ability to complete specific training, including First Aid and relevant workshop safety certifications.
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to learn Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) standards relevant to a workshop setting.
