Who We Are:

From 2022, the Queensland Department of Education commenced delivery of educational services on Norfolk Island on behalf of the Australian Government. 

Norfolk Island Central School is located approximately 1400 km east of Byron Bay in the South Pacific. Since 2022, the Queensland Department of Education has delivered educational services on Norfolk Island on behalf of the Australian Government.

Our school caters for approximately 300 students from Prep to Year 12 and takes great pride in delivering high-quality educational and wellbeing outcomes.

Guided by the school motto Play the Game, and values of respect, responsibility, resilience and honesty, our staff work in close partnership with the community to offer a broad curriculum that includes academic, sporting and cultural opportunities.

Our school embraces the island's unique historical traditions and proudly teaches Norfolk Language and Culture across Prep to Year 10, helping preserve local heritage for future generations. Staff work with significant levels of dedication and commitment, to serve our students and community.

About the Role:

  • Assisting teachers and students with sporting activities and with school excursions. Assisting with the management and stocktaking of equipment and resources. Communicating effectively and displaying high level of interpersonal skills to function as an effective team member.
  • Maintaining anecdotal records on students for use in reviewing student's development.
  • Displaying respect and empathy for students with high level needs.
  • Displaying confidentiality, tact, reliability and sensitively to students and their families.
  • The compiling and supervising of class rolls.
  • Clerical assistance duties including typing teachers' notes and work programs, duplicating and photocopying teaching materials, checking bus lists, collation and duplication of exam papers, recording of examination results, compiling students' results records, assisting in organising off site activities etc.
