Position Information

Black Springs Public School is located in the Central Tablelands area of New South Wales, 63 kilometres from the city of Bathurst and 23 kilometres from the nearest township of Oberon. The school is committed to providing educational excellence for all students who are drawn from diverse backgrounds within the small locality of Black Springs and surrounding rural and remote areas. 

The school comprises one multi-age class of 6 students in 2025. Teachers are committed to utilising high-impact, differentiated teaching strategies and ongoing formative and summative assessments to ensure each child has their individual learning goals identified and met. Black Springs Public School is recognised for its positive learning environment where staff collaborate and consistently set high expectations for students' learning. The school is a member of the Bathurst Small Schools Learning Community and the Bathurst network of schools. These professional learning alliances support staff and students through collaborations in staff professional learning and extracurricular student activities, including sporting, leadership and educational excursion opportunities. Black Springs Public School has an holistic approach to educating students, with focus placed on literacy and numeracy as well as the creative and performing arts.

The school values social and emotional learning and the positive effect this has on student wellbeing. Students are supported by wrap-around strategies, including the Positive Living Skills program and Positive Behaviour for Learning.

Specific Selection Criteria

Approval to teach Infants and Primary with demonstrated excellence in classroom teaching practice, evidenced based pedagogy and implementation of differentiated teaching and learning programs for a staged classroom.

Proven ability to use effective classroom management and wellbeing practices to create a classroom environment that is engaging and fosters a culture of high expectations and a sense of belonging.

 Highly developed communication, interpersonal and organisational skills with proven ability to build positive and productive working relationships with students, staff, parents and the wider community.

Demonstrated ability or willingness to work collaboratively in a small school environment and lead initiatives in order to promote a positive school culture.

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Applicants seeking permanent part time employment are encouraged to apply for this position. The recommended applicant will be offered an appointment at their desired FTE (up to the maximum FTE of the advertised position).
