St Benedict’s Catholic Primary School are seeking a ‘Student Wellbeing Officer’ to work with students from Prep to Year 6, the position will be part time for 11 hours a week.

 The successful applicant will:

Hold a qualification equivalent to or higher than a Certificate IV that includes a competency in:

Mental health and making appropriate referrals AND either

  • Providing Pastoral Care OR
  • Working with youth

Suitability Card for Child Related Employment (Blue Card registration).

An understanding of youth mental health and referral processes.

The Student Wellbeing Officer will work to support the social and emotional needs of students, the scope of their role will include:

  • Working with children from Prep to Year 6 to equip them with skills and knowledge that support positive behaviour and constructive social relationships through the implementation of small group intervention programs.
  • Working with staff to support the wellbeing of students and families.
  • Working within the community to promote a safe and inclusive school community where all people are respected.
  • Other desirable skills include:
  • Being a reflective practitioner who can assess the efficacy of their work and to take initiative to support student engagement and wellbeing in the context of the school community.
  • Have well-developed organisation and time management skills, with the capacity to work effectively both independently as well as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Personal qualities of empathy, imagination, innovation, resilience and optimism and the ability to confidently interact, motivate and connect with children, young people and families.
