Student Learning Assistant – Senior School

We are seeking a caring, capable and collaborative Student Learning Assistant to join our Senior School Learning Support Learning team. This role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference by supporting students with diverse learning needs to engage confidently in College life and achieve positive learning outcomes.
Position Summary
Working collaboratively with classroom teachers and the Learning Support team, the Student Learning Assistant provides targeted, responsive support for students with diverse learning needs. Support is provided in classroom, small-group and individual settings to help students access learning, develop independence and participate fully in the academic and wider life of the College.
Reports to: Learning Support Coordinator (Senior School)
Status and Hours: Permanent Full Time, Term Time only - 8:00am to 3.30pm; 5 days per week
Commencement Date: Term 1, 2027

Major Responsibilities
The Student Learning Assistant provides caring, practical and responsive support that enables students with diverse learning needs to participate, progress and flourish. Major responsibilities include:
- Work collaboratively with teachers and the Learning Support team to implement individual learning plans, classroom strategies and reasonable adjustments.
- Provide targeted support to students in classrooms, small groups and individual settings, under the direction of the teacher.
- Assist students to access learning activities, develop independence and work towards appropriate academic, social and organisational goals.
- Reinforce teacher instruction and provide timely, constructive encouragement and feedback that supports student progress.
- Observe and communicate relevant information about student engagement, progress and support needs to teachers and the Learning Support Coordinator.
- Accurately record the reasonable adjustments provided to students, in accordance with College processes, to support Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (NCCD) evidence requirements.
- Support the implementation of approved assessment and examination adjustments, and supervise students or small groups as required.
- Contribute to a safe, inclusive and respectful learning environment, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and student confidentiality.
- Participate actively in professional learning, reflective practice and goal setting to strengthen the effectiveness of student support.
- Contribute to the co-curricular life of the College and undertake supervision and other duties as reasonably required.
- Model Christian character and work collaboratively with colleagues to uphold the College’s values of courage, curiosity, craftsmanship, collaboration and compassion.

Desirable Criteria
- Certificate III/IV in Education Support (or willingness to train in this).

References: Provide three (3) referees one of whom should be the Minister of the Christian community you serve within, who can support your application.
Salary: In accordance with the Independent Schools NSW (Professional and Operational Staff) Cooperative Multi-Enterprise Agreement 2025.
