The Rockhampton Grammar School was founded in 1881 and is an independent co-educational day and boarding school, educating and caring for students from Prep to Year 12, as well as the Early Learning Years. POSITION TITLE:  Storeperson

DEPARTMENT:  Food Services

CLASSIFICATION: Permanent Full-time, Term-Time

REPORTS TO:  Food Services Manager

This role entails working in a fast-paced environment, often under high pressure. The role is hands-on and requires the individual to perform a number of physical activities. Duties include but are not limited to:

Stock Control

  • Monitor and maintain stock levels of general and perishable goods and chemicals; place orders for additional stock items where required, by the Food Services Manager;
  • Label items with storage details;
  • Place goods in correct containers and on racks, no product more than 10 kilos to be stored above waist height and no products to be stored on the floor;
  • Check dates and rotate stock;
  • Advise the Food Services Manager about stock and re-ordering levels.

Deliveries

  • Accepting delivery of stock, ensuring stock is not damaged and items present and accounted for as per order form and invoice;
  • Milk, bread, meat and specified products to be temperature checked forms to be completed and stored away in correct areas;
  • Delivery of weekly orders to boarding houses;
  • Delivery of meals to Early Learning Centre, as required.

General

  • Place mats down in kitchen, each morning at start of shift;
  • Fill drink machines, as required and after each service;
  • Water buckets for drink machines to be filled and placed into cold room for next service;
  • Check dining room and kitchen rubbish bins, after each service and empty as required;
  • Check on chemicals in washroom and dispensers, top up when required;
  • Milk fridge in dining room to be sorted, dates checked and restocked;
  • Bag ice;
  • Show due care of all equipment, report maintenance issues to the Food Services Manager;
  • Report and/or take action on any equipment breakdown or safety issue.

Cleaning

  • Keep all store room, cold room and freezer areas at the highest level of sanitation and cleanliness;
  • Clean drink machines after each service;
  • Clear loading dock of cardboard;
  • Loading dock to be hosed down and mopped, daily;
  • Cold room and dry store room to be swept and mopped, check for mould around door rubbers, daily;
  • Wipe over cold room walls, weekly;
  • Fans and vents to be cleaned, end of each month;
  • Deep fryers to be cleaned and degreased, end of each month;
  • Fly screens to be cleaned, end of each month;
  • Quarterly cleaning duties as per food safety manual, to be done during School holidays;
  • Keep work areas neat and tidy, at all times.

Breakfast Service

  • Assist with breakfast service:
  • Wash breakfast dishes and cutlery as required.

Functions

  • Package and send out completed orders for trips/functions;
  • Function items to be moved to function area/s day before or earlier, if possible;
  • Delivery of function items to offsite area/s;
  • Work at a function if directed by the Food Services Manager.

Team Work

  • Work cohesively as a team member and as required, assist team members to ensure all work tasks are completed.

 

Food Safety

  • Ensure all food safety procedures are followed as per the Food Safety Manual.

Occupational Health & Safety (OH&S)

  • Ensure a safe and hazardous-free workplace environment by reporting any health and safety hazards. Comply with the School’s occupational health and safety policy at all times;
  • Practicing appropriate work methods to comply with Workplace Health & Safety requirements.

School Holidays Work

  • From time to time may be required to work at School hire functions/camps during the School holidays.

Other

  • Maintain the standard of excellence required by the School’s reputation and uphold the philosophy of the School;
  • Attending staff development programmes, when and if appropriate;
  • Any other duties as directed by the Food Services Manager or their delegate.
