Veritas Education is looking to recruit enthusiastic, confident, and proactive Sports Coaches to support secondary schools across Wakefield. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with a background in sports, coaching, youth work, or physical activity who are passionate about motivating young people and helping them succeed.

About the Role

As a Sports Coach, you will work with PE departments and wider school teams to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. The role includes delivering structured sports sessions, supporting PE lessons, and occasionally supervising classes in the absence of the teacher.

This role is ideal for:

  • Sports coaching graduates
  • Experienced coaches or instructors
  • Individuals with experience in youth clubs, mentoring, or holiday camps
  • Anyone considering a future career in teaching or school-based roles

    • Key Responsibilities

  • Supporting PE lessons and assisting with the delivery of practical sports activities
  • Leading small groups or warm-up sessions under the direction of teaching staff
  • Promoting healthy participation, teamwork, and positive behaviour
  • Supervising groups of students and maintaining high standards of conduct
  • Supporting extra-curricular clubs, fixtures, or lunchtime activities where appropriate
  • Upholding safeguarding, behaviour, and school policies in line with DfE standards

    • Requirements

  • Experience in sports coaching, physical activity, or working with young people
  • Confidence in managing groups of students
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • A positive, energetic, and professional approach
  • A valid enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
  • Relevant coaching qualifications are desirable but not essential
