About the role:

The wellbeing Workforce social workers work within the school environment and with the school team, under the leadership and guidance of regional office based clinical supervisors, to maximise optimal care for students. This position is for Marsden State High School located in Logan. Though it is a temporary opportunity, there is a possibility that the role will extend.

This role is:

  • Based at Marsden State High School
  • Part time (0.4 FTE - 2 days per week)

What your day will look like:

Every day, you'll apply your clinical knowledge and decision-making to deliver targeted therapeutic interventions that address mild to moderate mental health needs of students and make a positive impact in the lives of children and young people. Collaborating with key school staff and working directly with students and families, you'll support the mental health needs of students, ensure exceptional service standards, and contribute to innovative approaches in supporting the needs of young people in an education setting. Through mentorship, leadership, and community engagement, your role will profoundly impact the lives of families while advancing professional practices.

Wellbeing Workforce social worker will:

  • Undertake individual and group counselling with students, parents and families to assist them in resolving personal or relationship concerns.
  • Provide professional social welfare assessments, interventions and follow up support to students, parents/carers and individuals as required.
  • Identify needs and participate in the referral and planning of services for children, parents and families to community agencies such as health and welfare.
  • Develop and implement strategies to provide information, support and encourage awareness of, and participation by, parents/carers and the community in school activities and programs.
  • Act as a contact for parents/carers and the community to determine relevant issues for improved relationships between the school and community.
  • Develop and/or maintain appropriate data collection and confidential record keeping and reporting systems for individual students referred for social work services in line with department procedures and policies
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and inter agency networks.

Progressional Role:

Progressional roles show a salary range spanning two classifications. Appointment will be made at the level appropriate to skill and fulfilment of required criteria.
