This is a progressional position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the lower classification with eligibility for progression to the next, once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of both classification ranges.

Step Into Your Next Chapter:

The focus of the role is to provide support for students with mild to moderate mental health concerns. The wellbeing professionals employed through the Wellbeing Workforce work as part of schools' established student support teams to enhance wellbeing and mental health support available to students.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Assessing client needs, developing care plans, connecting clients with resources and services, advocating for their rights and offering emotional support.
  • Provide professional support and information for students, parents, carers and school communities that facilitate partnerships in decision making for enhancement of all students' learning.
  • Use evidence-based intervention strategies to support young people experiencing challenges with mental health, and social and emotional wellbeing.
  • Provide therapeutic counselling and support through individual or group sessions to address mild to moderate mental health concerns.
  • Facilitate referrals to other allied health professionals and services and assist students and families to access this support.
  • Support school communities in responding to critical incidents and emergencies as a part of the school response team.
  • Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary team within an educational setting, providing support to school, community and inter agency/networks relevant to the position.

About You
The following traits would be beneficial:

  • Strong leadership and mentoring skills to support and develop social work teams.
  • Experience in providing mental health and social welfare assessments and interventions.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively within multi-disciplinary teams and inter-agency networks.
  • Proficiency in developing and maintaining accurate records and reporting systems.
  • Experience in responding to critical incidents and emergencies in educational or community settings.
