About the Role

An exciting opportunity exists in North Queensland Regional Office for a dynamic, passionate and dedicated individual to support the introduction of a pilot program. This role is offered on a temporary part time bases, at 0.6 FTE 3 days a week (one of which must be a Thursday) with other days to be negotiated. The successful candidate must have a blue card and an open licence as there will be some local travel to schools required.

The ideal candidate will play a vital role in supporting the course coordinators in implementing the pilot program. Tasks include administration work with an attention to detail, excellent communication skills both written and oral, supporting the course coordinators with implementation, supporting students enrolled in the course, at times supervision of students, visiting local schools and liaising with internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will need to be an enthusiastic team player with a proactive approach to support all stakeholders with the program.

As the Senior Project Officer, you will:

  • Undertake specialist project activities to achieve the outcomes expected of the project.
  • Oversee the development, implementation and monitoring of program plans and phases, including the coordination of the various activities associated with achieving the project objectives.

Responsibilities include:

  • Undertake and participate in designated project and organisational change activities.
  • Resolve problems and assist in the development and implementation of initiatives, plans, policies, procedures, processes and systems for effective and efficient administration of departmental services.
  • Assist in coordinating the development and implementation of plans, policies and procedures and in managing processes.
  • Closely monitor project timeframes and report any potential slippages.
  • Provide clear and regular reporting to senior officers and other staff within the division on project progress or other agreed key performance indicators to assist in monitoring and decision making.
