About the role:

The Senior Leader – School Progress and Performance is responsible for progressing the performance of an assigned cluster of BCE schools across the key areas of the school life: Catholic Identity, professional learning and teaching practice, school management and internal and external compliance and reporting. You will liaise with Cluster Managers, leaders and other specialist staff attached to BCEO functional teams within Learning Services, Strategy and Performance and Corporate Services to provide advice and services to schools.

Your key responsibilities: You will demonstrate People Leadership, Educative Leadership, Operational Compliance and leverage Strategic partnerships to ensure principals connect with and advance BCE system priorities and the BCE Strategic Plan

  • Lead, guide and encourage principals to support and grow their school’s authentic Catholic identity and contemporary Catholic perspective.
  • Provide leadership and support to develop principal and school team capability to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Effectively manage staff mobility, succession planning and resources to meet school needs.
  • Report on school cluster progress, performance and issues, and on BCE’s ongoing direction and approach to school centric service delivery.
  • Provide professional and pastoral support to principals and facilitate their professional growth including constructive and meaningful contributions and recognition for achievements.
  • Contribute to the development of school strategies, Master Plans, major planning and development projects.
  • Partner with Financial Services to ensure school level financial management is within budget allocation and BCE guidelines.
  • Review remedial actions for schools’ operational processes, compliance and performance as they develop to meet BCE changes, external reporting and NSSAB accreditation.
  • Support principals in managing and reviewing complex operational and educational school-based issues, critical incidents and complaints and students with complex and challenging needs.
  • Develop and embed a culture of continuous school improvement and school compliance consistent with the BCE School Improvement Framework.
  • Support principals to achieve growth in student engagement and achievement outcomes, and school operational performance improvements.
  • Prepare school and cluster reports, collaborate with Senior Leaders to contribute to annual plans for the Learning Services functions.


The locations and cluster of allocated schools will be negotiated with the successful applicant based on their experience with primary or secondary schools. All interested applicants are encouraged to apply. 

To be successful in this role you will have

  • Master’s qualifications in educational leadership, theology and/or business post-graduate degree.
  • Current QCT registration or Paid Employee Positive Notice Blue Card
  • Demonstrated school leadership, including educational and administrative leadership.
  • Demonstrated management of teams to drive system performance and strategic directions
  • Proven people leadership skills to build culture, capability and capacity within multiple school leadership teams.
  • Sound knowledge of the policy landscape, industry standards, compliance requirements and legislation relevant to the non-government education sector.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary ‘expected and effective’ evidence-based practices in learning and teaching and ability to provide leadership based on contemporary practices and principles.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage competing priorities; complaint resolution; and exercise discretion and confidentiality.
  • Ability to translate strategic plans into operational plans and lead and mobilise principals.
  • Ability to understand data, identify and evaluate performance and drive corrective action.
  • Hold a Current/valid Queensland Driver’s Licence to travel to schools as required.
