Why this Role?
While the Health, Safety and Wellbeing Assurance Team is based at Brisbane Central Office, the location of this role can be based within any Department Regional Office.
Please Note: This position has high travel requirements throughout the school term and must be willing to travel.
As the Senior Health and Safety Consultant within the Health, Safety and Wellbeing, you will play a key role in supporting and advancing health, safety, and wellbeing activities aligned with the department's strategic objectives. Your responsibilities will include:
- Conduct health, safety and wellbeing audits and reviews of the department's operations to assess compliance with legislation, directives, policies, procedures and professional and industry standards and assess efficiency and effectiveness using contemporary tools and techniques and develop strategies to resolve issues identified.
- Provide school principals and ITD Heads of Department with practical advice and recommendations, which will form the basis for improved monitoring, development and delivery of the department's Health, Safety and Wellbeing Management System.
- Maintain a sound knowledge of external regulatory requirements, contemporary best practice safety approaches, departmental protocols, procedures and systems.
- Actively assist in the development of data analytics, and findings management capabilities, with a view to enhance the monitoring capability of the delivery of the HSW Assurance Program.
- Prepare succinct written reports summarising findings, priorities, and agreed remedial actions from post-implementation reviews with participating schools in the HSW Assurance Program.
- Researching, developing, implementing and monitoring a range of strategies to support continuous improvement of the HSWMS and health and safety management across the State.
- Support regional health and safety consultants through the delivery of high-level technical advice, resource development and coordination of information across the State.
- Assist in the delivery of identified projects including project planning, procurement, tracking and reporting activities.
