About the Role:

As a Senior Health and Safety Consultant, Capability, you will contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives to enhance capabilities as they relate to Health, Safety and Wellbeing (HSW) with consideration to programs that align with the department's strategic objectives. This includes analysing training needs, designing programs and initiatives and coordinating deliverables as required. Work closely with stakeholders to promote a culture of continuous learning and development in HSW, ensuring that capability initiatives are aligned with industry best practice and regulatory requirements.

This will include:

  • Provision of high level, accurate health and safety advice to regional or corporate staff.
  • Maintain and develop policy content, procedures and associated templates and tools required for HSWMS compliance and to support the identification and management of HSW risk.
  • Maintain a sound knowledge of external regulatory requirements, contemporary best practice safety approaches, departmental protocols, procedures and systems.
  • Conducting comprehensive reviews of HSW capability programs and initiatives to evaluate compliance, efficiency, and effectiveness. Utilising contemporary tools and techniques to identify and address any issues, developing strategies for improvement.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop training and capability initiatives, ensuring alignment with broader competency programs within the department. Liaising with stakeholders to ensure content relevancy and effectiveness.
  • Researching, developing, implementing and monitoring a range of strategies to support continuous improvement, with a focus of HSW Capability, across the State.
  • Support regional health and safety consultants through the delivery of high-level technical advice, resource development and coordination of information across the State.
  • Plan and develop state wide health and safety training presentations and resources that align with strategies for improving health and safety performance as directed by OSW Management.
  • Assist in the delivery of identified projects including project planning, procurement, tracking and reporting activities.
  • Other suitable duties, consistent with the duties and responsibilities of the position as directed by the supervisor or nominated delegate.

This role will work within Organisational Safety and Wellbeing team with a focus on continuous improvement and customer focused principles. While the team is based at Brisbane Central Office, the location of this role can be based within any Department Regional Office.
