The Senior Facilities and Grounds Officer is a member of team who are responsible for providing effective and efficient support services in a wide variety of tasks and activities to maintain and enhance the effective operation of the school.  In this role the Senior Facilities and Grounds Officer will plan and implement the annual grounds maintenance work program. They will do this as a member of the grounds team and under the direction of the school’s Facilities Manager and Principal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain school grounds, including minor landscaping work, gardens, lawns, playing surfaces, top dressing, fertilising, seeding, turfing, coring and sprigging.
  • Assist with setting up school events;
  • Prepare ovals for sporting events and carnivals including laying out and line marking playing fields.
  • Manage the safe distribution and application of organic and chemical pesticides, sprays and fertilisers including the correct storage and recording.
  • Operate and maintain a wide range of specialised machinery and equipment for lawns, turf and playing fields and routinely undertake maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Manage and maintain stores and facilities including stock control and record keeping.
  • Routine trade and non-trade maintenance and repairs;
  • Providing feedback into planning, preparing and development of school grounds to the Facilities Manager and Principal;
  • Liaising with onsite contractors;
  • Liaise with various internal and external personnel on issues of lost property and damage to facilities;
  • Highly skilled in time management – understanding workload and the ability to prioritise tasks
  • Sound computer skills to enable the use of the online maintenance register, emails etc
  • Comply with workplace health and safety requirements and induct employees in the safe operation of machinery, plant, equipment and chemicals.


To be eligible to be considered for this role you will:

  • be eligible to work in Australia for the duration of the appointment; and
