About the Department of Education:
Registration Services (Non-State, International and Home Education) Branch within the Policy, Performance, International & Intergovernmental Division of the Department of Education performs three key regulatory functions, including the provision of secretariate support to the Non-State Schools Accreditation Board; the statutory registration of school-sector providers of education services for overseas students and international secondary student exchange organisations; and the registration of children for home education.

Your Role:
As the Senior Education Officer within the International Quality (Schools) Unit, you will contribute towards the statutory registration of school-sector providers of education services for overseas students and international secondary student exchange organisations under the relevant legislative frameworks in accordance with the principles of good administrative decision making and best practice regulation.


Responsibilities include:
As the Senior Education Officer you will have responsibility for the following:

  • Conduct provider and course registration processes, and compliance monitoring activities, for school-sector providers of education services for overseas students.
  • Monitor and regulate the operation of international secondary student exchange organisations.
  • Participate in the delivery of presentations, information and training events for providers and industry bodies on registration criteria, processes and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare correspondence and respond to enquiries from providers, the public and other government agencies on matters relating to CRICOS registration and international secondary student exchange organisations.
  • Analyse, assess and review international education specific legislation and other impacting issues, in order to provide advice or prepare correspondence and briefs for senior officers.

About You:
As a Senior Education Officer in the International Quality (Schools) team, you will be a strong communicator who is confident building good working relationships with internal and external stakeholders; have strong analytical, investigative and decision-making skills; as well as an ability to work in a fast-paced dynamic work environment.

Previous regulatory experience will be highly regarded.
