About the Role:
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- The delivery of a consistent mentoring approach at a school, regional and system level, with a focus on providing mentoring support for teachers, and supporting school leaders who are inducting and onboarding early career teachers, including preservice teachers with Permission to Teach (PTT), in their schools.
- Assisting schools to further develop the expertise of teachers with mentoring roles to effectively support the professional growth of early career teachers including permission to teach teachers.
Areas of focus for this project include:
- Delivering monitoring strategies to assist school leaders and mentors to support early career teachers, including pre-service teachers with PTT.
- Delivering targeted capability development and support activities for teachers undertaking mentoring of early career teachers using high level knowledge of the APST, effective delivery of curriculum, teaching and learning and appropriate inclusive practices.
- Providing guidance and support to school leaders and mentors, including modelling practice (which may include modelling classroom teaching practice) where required, to support the professional growth and wellbeing of early career teachers.
- Supporting school-based processes for the onboarding and induction of early career teachers, including PTTs
- Travel, including overnight stays, to various locations will be required as part of this role. The successful applicant will be based at one of following DDSW regional offices: Toowoomba, Roma, Kingaroy or Warwick.
