About the Role:

  • Two Senior Education Officers, Capability are required to work with regional teams and collaborate with a network of peers around the state to provide targeted capability development in the following priority areas:
  • Support the orientation, onboarding and induction of early career teachers, including new graduate teachers and permissions to teach (PTT) teachers and provide the opportunity for collaboration with statewide colleagues and high quality professional learning opportunities offered through the Starting Successfully Flagship program
  • Delivering Australian Curriculum for students
  • Recording and reporting student learning utilising One School
  • Promotion of whole school approaches to pedagogy

Highly desirable skills and experience;

  • Demonstrated teaching and learning competence and capacity to provide pedagogical leadership to promote the achievement of effective teachers and quality learning outcomes for students.
  • Demonstrated competence to lead strategically, make insightful, courageous and ethical decisions and lead change in complex environments.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and sustaining relationships through clarity, engagement and purpose, with a collaborative focus on outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to facilitate evidence based, targeted professional learning opportunities that build leader and teacher expertise and improve outcomes for students.

The SEOC will provide support across the region, and report to the Director Capability in Central Queensland Region. The physical location for positions can be negotiated to be either Emerald, Mackay or Gladstone.

Mandatory Requirements: 

  • You must be a permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments. 
  • Employees' engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.12 of the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022
  • When working in regulated employment an employee must have a current Working with Children Clearance (blue card) issued by Blue Card Services.
