About the Role

The Darling Downs South West region is looking for an experienced teacher/ leader who is highly skilled in using curriculum and a data-informed approach to strengthen capability of school leaders and teachers in secondary school settings. The role will support schools to align to curriculum, assessment and pedagogy to ensure a cohesive approach that strengthens teaching quality and learning outcomes across P-10 and secondary schools.

Key responsibilities

The Senior Education Officer (EOSD) will provide professional support to secondary school contexts by:

  • Building school leader/teacher capability to instructionally lead systematic curriculum delivery and to deliver effective pedagogical approaches for junior secondary students in P-10/high school contexts
  • Providing current evidenced-based practices and effective use of available technology to lead and support school teams with the aim of improving student outcomes and engagement
  • Fostering collaboration between secondary school leaders/staff and cross-regional teams to share practice, data insights, and strategies to enhance regional consistency and capability

About You

The successful applicant are individuals who demonstrate:

  • Designing, delivering and monitoring strategies to support school leaders strategically plan and implement systematic curriculum delivery and employ effective pedagogy to maximise junior secondary students' achievement and engagement
  • Collaboration with stakeholders to provide professional development and support to school leaders/teachers aligned to statewide frameworks and processes, and the required curriculum for students
  • Facilitating change and empowering others through innovation and relational leadership
  • A commitment to professional development and the best practice approach to implement strategies that contribute to regional improvement
  • Quality communication skills to build understanding of the practicalities of improvements to ensure uptake of whole school, targeted and intensive improvement strategies and initiatives

Eligibility requirements:

  • A permanent employee of the department with a substantive teaching or classified officer role employed under Teaching in State Education Award - State 2016, have current full registration as a teacher and should be aware that temporary internal moves for the purposes of the department's payroll processes are referred to as internal secondments.   • Employees engaged temporarily as Education Officer - Special Duties have a requirement of 36¼ hours per week attendance and arrangements as outlined in clause 5.12 of the Department of Education State School Teachers' Certified Agreement 2022
  • Travel, including overnight stays, to various locations will be required as part of this role. The successful applicant will be based at one of following regional offices: Toowoomba, Roma, Kingaroy or Warwick
