About the opportunity:

We are on the lookout for a motivated and agile AO6 Senior Communication and Marketing Officer to enhance the key priority work of the Early Childhood Division through strategic communication, engagement and proactive marketing. This role is highly responsive through coordinating events, capturing good news stories and editing content in short time frames to deliver timely engagement on social media accounts.

Your Role:

As the Senior Communication and Marketing Officer, you will support the ongoing delivery of communication activities, increasing the profile of the Early Childhood Division projects and initiatives. This role is an opportunity for an inspired communication specialist to utilise social media, digital and events as key levers to boost the good news and opportunities of the Early Childhood sector. Working under a multidisciplinary team of project leads, you will support the team to develop internal and external communication strategies that support a range of audiences across the early childhood education and sector, including Queensland families. The skills required to support communications projects are social, digital and email marketing, user-experience, website, sponsorships and events experience.

This role reports through the Manager, Communications and also required to assist with preparations for internal briefings through reports and presentations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Deliver high quality, responsive communication and marketing services to a range of departmental clients and stakeholders within an account management framework with a focus on efficient, effective and client focused service delivery.
  • Project manage and run key events and community engagement activities within the Division, including liaison between third-party providers and stakeholders.
  • Identify and understand client expectations and provide high level communication and marketing advice and develop and implement effective communication and marketing strategies (internal and external).
  • Write, edit and produce high quality content, including:
    • online and digital content including social media and website
    • publications and other communications and marketing materials
    • speeches, media releases, briefing notes, correspondence.
  • Develop and implement sponsorship proposals and advertising campaigns that deliver effective and measurable outcomes.
  • Prepare briefings and correspondence for senior executives and the Minister.
  • Provide a creative, lateral and innovative approach to the business of the department.
