Our physiotherapists, occupational therapists, and speech language pathologists (therapists) play a critical role in supporting schools to identify and address barriers so that students can safely attend and participate at school.
Flexible service delivery is central to ensuring equitable access to therapy services through telepractice, drive-in drive-out, fly-in fly-out, hybrid models, or other remote/virtual formats. Flexible service delivery is one of the tools therapists use to help schools make reasonable adjustments and implement inclusive teaching strategies, ensuring students across Queensland receive the right support at the right time, no matter where they live.
Why this Role?
This role is open to occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists. The position can be geographically located anywhere within Queensland, subject to local school/regional office base location availability.
The role comprises of two aspects:
- profession-specific clinical work with students and schools using complex clinical evidence-based supports via telepractice (0.5FTE)
- multi-disciplinary professional supports through capability development and development of resources/materials to facilitate uptake of flexible service delivery by schools and occupational therapists, physiotherapists and speech language pathologists (0.5FTE)
There may be opportunities to travel to support services for schools and therapists. Clinical caseload profession-specific supervision and line management will be linked to the Coorparoo Education Precinct, with strategic and project oversight provided by the Manager, Therapies role.
Responsibilities include:
- Utilise flexible service delivery within a whole-school approach (multi-tiered system of supports) and evidence-based contemporary therapy frameworks to assist schools in identifying and making reasonable adjustments and implementing inclusive teaching strategies aligned with school and student goals.
- Co-design, build, and deliver capability development and supporting systems, processes, and resources to embed flexible service delivery as part of everyday clinical practice for schools and therapists.
- Facilitate the professional learning and wellbeing of therapists providing flexible services across the state by establishing virtual networks that connect professionals, providing opportunities for peer support, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.
- Maintain effective communication and collaboration networks with relevant schools, regional supervisory therapists, and regional leadership teams to facilitate knowledge and resource sharing of specific or specialised clinical areas of telepractice service delivery.
- Provide professional advice relating to telepractice services to the Director, Therapies and Nursing, schools, and other stakeholders on policies, systems, and practices related to the delivery and continuous improvement of SLP, OT, and PT services within schools.

- Expertise in the delivery of flexible services within a school-based clinical caseload.
- Demonstrated experience in building capability to support the uptake of flexible service delivery by local schools and/or other therapists.
- Project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and competing timelines.
- High-level communication and networking skills to engage with stakeholders across professions and regions.
