About the Department of Education:

The Department of Education employs over 900 allied health professionals who work in state schools. Our physiotherapists, occupational therapists and speech language pathologists play a critical role in supporting all students to access an equitable education and succeed.

Your Role:

Provide support to other state school therapists to build capability and promote best practice in the delivery of services via telepractice

Use telepractice to collaborate with schools to assess barriers to student participation and develop and implement therapy supports and interventions including using complex strategies

Lead, deliver and report outcomes for related projects

Responsibilities include:

  • Use telepractice to support students to achieve their potential using evidence-based contemporary SLP, OT or PT knowledge and frameworks to assist schools to identify and make reasonable adjustments and implement inclusive teaching strategies 
  • Use telepractice to collaborate with schools, the designated supervising therapist and other service providers to assess barriers to student learning, and develop and implement SLP, PT or OTs services and interventions across schools including complex and specialist interventions, where required. 
  • Provide training and support to other state schools SLP, PT and OTs to promote and support best practice in SLP, OT or PT telepractice service delivery 
  • Maintain effective communication and collaboration networks with relevant schools and regional supervisory therapists and regional leadership teams, to facilitate knowledge and resource sharing of specific or specialised clinical areas of telepractice service delivery  
  • Lead and conduct specialised telepractice projects and innovative research activities relating to the delivery and continuous improvement of SLP, OT and PT services within schools. 
  • Provide professional advice relating to telepractice services to the Director, Therapies and Nursing, schools and other stakeholders on policies, systems and practices related to the delivery and continuous improvement of SLP, OT and PT services within schools.
