About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Tutor to join a specialist post-16 education setting supporting young people aged 16-25 with Special Educational Needs (SEN). The provision supports learners working at Entry Level 3 to Level 2, with a strong focus on progression into supported internships, employment, and independent living.

This role is ideal for a practitioner who is passionate about improving life outcomes for young adults with additional needs. You will deliver personalised, engaging learning that develops functional skills, employability skills, confidence, and independence.

A key part of the role involves preparing learners for adulthood and work through structured employability pathways, including work experience, travel training, interview preparation, and life skills development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver individualised, differentiated lessons using the RARPA framework for mixed-ability SEN learners, supporting progression towards internships.
  • Integrate English, Maths, PSHE, and British Values into teaching, alongside delivering PSHE and life skills to promote independence and wellbeing.
  • Develop learners' employability skills, including CV writing, interview preparation, workplace behaviour, and support with travel training and community independence.
  • Assess, track, and evidence learner progress using RARPA, maintaining accurate ILPs and contributing to reviews and reports.
  • Collaborate with staff on curriculum development and placements, while ensuring safeguarding, behaviour, and health & safety policies are followed.
  • About You

    We are looking for someone who is:

  • A teaching qualification (Level 5 DET) is desirable, or willingness to work towards one.
  • Experienced in working with SEN learners or young adults with additional needs
  • Confident delivering differentiated, learner-centred teaching, with a passion for independence and life skills development.
  • Knowledgeable in functional English and Maths, also skilled at building positive, supportive relationships with learners
  • Organised, reflective, and committed to high-quality teaching and learner progress

  • Enhanced DBS check required (Child & Adult workforce)
  • Commitment to safeguarding and inclusion essential
  • 30 hours CPD per year expected
  • Flexible working may be required, including occasional evening events
