Are you a caring, patient and experienced Teaching Assistant who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs?

We are recruiting for two SEND Teaching Assistant positions within a welcoming primary school. These roles would suit nurturing and confident practitioners who can build trusting relationships with children while supporting their learning, emotional wellbeing and independence.

Role 1: Year 2 SEND Teaching Assistant

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:40am to 3:30pm

You will support a small group of Year 2 children with a range of physical, academic and emotional needs. The role will involve adapting learning activities, providing personal care when required and supporting a child with physical needs.

You will also be required to follow an agreed physiotherapy programme, administer prescribed medication in line with school procedures and work closely with teachers, support staff and other professionals. First Aid training is required, while epilepsy awareness would be beneficial, although training can be provided.

Role 2: SEND and Sensory Support Teaching Assistant

Hours: Flexible, with the option of approximately 9:30am to 2:45pm or a full school day

You will join a small, established team supporting children with a range of sensory, communication, emotional and learning needs. The children are currently working below National Curriculum levels and require an individualised, nurturing and supportive approach.

The role will include delivering appropriate learning activities, helping children regulate their emotions and supporting them during lunchtimes and playtimes. You must also be comfortable providing personal care, including toileting support, while maintaining each child's dignity and independence.

We Are Looking for Someone Who:

  • Holds a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification
  • Has experience supporting children with SEND and/or sensory needs
  • Is patient, nurturing, reliable and emotionally resilient
  • Can build positive and trusting relationships with children
  • Is comfortable providing personal care when required
  • Can remain calm and consistent when responding to individual needs
  • Understands the importance of promoting children's independence
  • Works well as part of a wider school team
  • Is committed to safeguarding and supporting every child to make progress

    • Experience of working with children with SEND is essential for both positions.
