SEN Teaching Assistant - PMLD

Location: Lambeth, South London Start Date: September 2026 Contract: Full-time, Term Time Only

The Role

A specialist SEN school in Lambeth is seeking a committed and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join their team from September. The role involves supporting students with Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), helping them to access education in a safe, supportive, and structured environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone with relevant experience who is passionate about working with pupils with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with PMLD
  • Assist with personal care, maintaining dignity and safeguarding at all times
  • Support students with PEG feeding in line with care plans and training
  • Work closely with teaching staff and multidisciplinary teams
  • Support learning, communication, and sensory development
  • Help create a positive and inclusive classroom environment

    • Requirements

    Essential:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with PMLD
  • Experience with PEG feeding
  • Experience providing personal care

    • Desirable:

  • Previous experience in an SEN school or similar setting

    • Skills:

  • Patient, calm, and caring approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Commitment to safeguarding and child welfare
  • Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff
