Teaching Assistant - Complex Needs (Kirklees)

Supporting Primary-Aged Children with Autism and ADHD Full-Time | Term Time

We are seeking a skilled, compassionate, and proactive Senior Teaching Assistant to join our dedicated team in Kirklees. This role is ideal for someone with experience supporting children with complex needs, particularly autism, ADHD, and social communication differences.

About the Role

As a Senior Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Provide 1:1 support for primary-aged pupils with a range of additional needs
  • Work closely with class teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to deliver tailored support
  • Help create a calm, structured, and engaging learning environment
  • Use strategies to support emotional regulation, communication, and sensory needs
  • Assist with personalised learning plans and behaviour support plans
  • Promote independence, confidence, and positive relationships
  • Model best practice for other support staff where required

    • What We're Looking For

  • Experience working with children with autism, ADHD, or other complex needs
  • A strong understanding of inclusive practice and positive behaviour support
  • Patience, resilience, and a nurturing approach
  • Ability to build trusting relationships with pupils and staff
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 TA, SEN training) are desirable
