Job Title: SEN Teacher (Key Stage 3 with Primary Flexibility) - Full-TimeLocation: Wigan, Greater ManchesterContract Type: Full-Time, Term-Time Only
Role Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable SEN Teacher to join a newly established specialist school in Wigan. The school provides a safe and supportive environment for young people aged 5-18 with Autism and/or social, emotional, and mental health (SEMH) needs.
This role will primarily focus on teaching Key Stage 3 pupils, while also requiring the flexibility and confidence to support and teach across primary age groups when needed. You will work with pupils with a range of needs including ASD, ADHD, FASD, anxiety, and communication, interaction, cognition, and learning difficulties.
Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons for Key Stage 3 pupilsAdapt teaching approaches to also support primary-aged learners when requiredDeliver a broad and balanced curriculum across core and foundation subjectsDevelop and implement EHCP targets and personalised learning plansCreate a structured, safe, and inclusive learning environmentSupport pupils' social, emotional, and mental health developmentUse effective behaviour strategies tailored to SEMH needsAssess, track, and report on pupil progressWork collaboratively with teaching assistants, SENCOs, and external professionalsContribute to the ongoing development of the school's curriculum and provisionRequirements
QTS/QTLS (essential)Experience teaching Key Stage 3 (essential), with confidence supporting primary pupilsStrong understanding of SEN, particularly ASD, ADHD, and SEMHAbility to differentiate and adapt teaching for a wide range of needs and abilitiesCalm, patient, and nurturing approachStrong behaviour management and relationship-building skillsEnhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)Benefits
