We are currently seeking a passionate and experienced SEN Teacher with a specialism in autism to join a well-established school based in Hertfordshire. The ideal candidate will hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS); however, we also welcome applications from unqualified teachers with significant experience teaching students with special educational needs (SEN).

About the Role - SEN Teacher (Autism Specialism) In this role, you will be responsible for planning and delivering tailored lessons to secondary-aged students with autism, ensuring they are supported both academically and personally. You will play a key role in helping students develop their confidence, social skills, and independence in a nurturing and inclusive environment.

You will be working closely with teaching assistants, the SENCO, and other staff members, and will be part of a collaborative team dedicated to meeting each student's individual needs and helping them achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities for SEN Teacher:

  • Plan, prepare, and deliver engaging lessons tailored to the needs of students with SEN, with a particular focus on autism
  • Support students in overcoming barriers to learning and help build their confidence and independence
  • Work closely with other other members of staff to provide effective support that meets each students needs
  • Assess and monitor student progress, adjusting teaching methods as required
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment where every student can thrive
  • Communicate regularly with parents and guardians to keep them updated on student progress
  • About You:

  • Experienced in teaching students with SEN
  • QTS (ideal)
  • A strong understanding of SEN, in particuar autism
  • Patient, empathetic, and passionate about supporting students with special educational needs
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
