Location: Middlesbrough Job Type: Full-Time, Long-Term Supply (Potential Permanent Opportunity) Start Date: September 2026 Salary: £95-£115 p/day

Veritas Education are supporting a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Middlesbrough to appoint a dedicated Learning Support Assistant to work within their specialist SEN provision from September.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity with the potential to become permanent for the right candidate. The successful applicant will support Key Stage 1 pupils with a range of additional needs, helping them access learning, develop communication skills and achieve positive outcomes both academically and socially.

The role will include a mixture of 1:1 support and small group interventions, working closely with teaching staff and SEN professionals to provide tailored support throughout the school day.

The Role:

  • Supporting KS1 pupils within a specialist SEN unit
  • Delivering both 1:1 and small group support
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence and independence
  • Supporting communication, emotional regulation and social development
  • Creating a safe, positive and nurturing learning environment
  • Working closely with teachers, SEND professionals and parents
  • Ideal Candidate:

  • Experience supporting children with SEN, either in schools, care, youth work or similar settings
  • Patient, nurturing and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to support children with a range of additional learning needs
  • Comfortable working both independently and as part of a wider team
  • Relevant Teaching Assistant, Supporting Teaching & Learning or childcare qualifications are desirable but not essential
