Veritas Education is recruiting SEN Learning Support Assistants to work within a welcoming specialist education setting in Sunderland.

The school supports children and young people with a range of special educational needs and disabilities (SEND). Pupils may require additional help with their learning, communication, social development and independence, so we're looking for patient, positive people who can build strong relationships and provide consistent support.

The role:

  • Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups
  • Helping learners access lessons and activities
  • Supporting communication, confidence and independence
  • Encouraging positive engagement and behaviour
  • Working alongside teachers and experienced support staff
  • Helping create a safe, supportive learning environment

    • Who are we looking for?

    Previous SEN, school, care or support-work experience is preferable, but it isn't essential.

    We'd also love to hear from graduates interested in developing a career within SEN or education. Psychology, Education, Childhood Studies, Sports Coaching and similar backgrounds could all transfer well.

    Most importantly, you'll need to be patient, reliable, resilient and genuinely motivated to support young people.
