We need an Assistant Headteacher with experience in Pastoral/DSL and Behaviour.

We are in search of an Assistant Headteacher to join our senior leadership team.

The ideal candidate will possess significant experience in Special Education Needs (SEN) and a proven track record as an outstanding teacher. They should have extensive knowledge in safeguarding and a genuine passion for teaching and learning in this unique environment. In this role, you will inspire our class teachers and support staff by modelling and embedding best practices. You will also collaborate with families to foster positive attitudes towards education.

Our Secondary Special School meets the needs of pupils aged 7 - 19 years old, with autism and additional needs such as ADHD, speech and language difficulties, sensory issues and associated behavioural difficulties - and was recently rated Good by Ofsted.

Key Responsibilities - Assistant Headteacher

  • Collaborate with the Headteacher and fellow senior leaders to shape the school's strategic vision, direction, and goals, ensuring alignment with our commitment to educational excellence.
  • Lead the development and management of teaching and learning strategies for all students, fostering an environment that promotes academic growth and excellence.
  • Work in partnership with the Headteacher to monitor, analyse, and assess the quality of teaching and student progress, implementing improvements as necessary.
  • Actively promote and cultivate inspirational and effective teaching and learning practices, serving as a role model for our dedicated staff.
  • In the absence of the Headteacher, fulfil all related duties and responsibilities required to ensure the smooth operation of the school.
  • Ensure adherence to the school's aims and policies, sharing collective responsibility for the well-being, health, safety, and discipline of all students.
  • Promote an inclusive and positive working environment where diversity in cultures, races, religions, genders, and abilities is highly valued.
  • Fulfil the requirements of this position in accordance with the Conditions of Employment.
