Make a real difference to one pupil's school journey

Veritas Education is looking for a calm, resilient and relationship-focused SEMH Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a new pupil joining a welcoming mixed primary school in the Middlesbrough area.

The school places a strong emphasis on creating a secure, caring environment where children can develop their individual potential, confidence and love of learning.

This role would suit someone who can build trust, provide consistent boundaries and help a pupil successfully engage with school life and learning.

The role will involve:

  • Providing consistent 1:1 SEMH support
  • Building a positive and trusting relationship with the pupil
  • Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour
  • Encouraging engagement with classroom learning
  • Helping the pupil develop confidence, independence and routines
  • Working closely with teaching and pastoral staff
  • Who could be a good fit?

Previous school experience is beneficial, but it isn't essential. We'd particularly like to hear from people with backgrounds in:

  • Behaviour or SEMH support
  • Youth work or mentoring
  • Children's residential care
  • Support work or social care
  • Sports coaching
  • Mental health or wellbeing support
  • Psychology, Criminology or Education graduates
  • Teaching Assistants looking to specialise in 1:1 support
  • What matters most is that you're patient, dependable, resilient and able to build positive relationships with children who may need additional emotional and behavioural support.
