Are you are looking to make a difference in the lives of children with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH)? Do you have experience working with students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)? We are looking for proactive and empathetic individuals who are looking for a new opportunity for September. Whether you already have experience working as a Teaching Assistant, experience working with individuals with SEN, or experience working with children or young people in some capacity, we would love to talk with you.

A mainstream secondary school in the heart of Hackney are looking for an SEMH TA who embodies their ethos. The school is renowned for its disciplined approach and commitment to academic excellence. You will be working within their Special Educational Needs (SEN) department, supporting students with SEMH and SEN. They strongly believe that creating an environment where students can thrive academically, socially and emotionally is key to student success. They have high expections for their students, and work to prepare them for their future post-education.

The right candidate will promote positive behavior and ensure a safe and respectful learning environment. They will be commited to the schools ethos, and comfortable implementing effective behaviour management strategies tailored to the unique needs of secondary school students. They will be proactive and committed to supporting students with SEN and SEMH needs within a mainstream enviornment.

Responsibilites:

  • Supporting students with SEN in multiple settings
  • Working with students aged 11-16
  • Work collaboratively with the SEND department and other members of staff
  • Tailor your approach to the individual needs of the child
  • Treating all students with respect and kindness
  • Behavioural management, promoting independent learning and helping students manage their behaviour
  • Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN in some capcity
  • The ability to comunicate and work well with young people and other members of staff
  • Knowledge of child protection and safeguarding
  • A desire to support young people, and to work within the field of education
  • An enhanced DBS on the OUS (or be willing to get one)
