SEMH Support Assistant - Secondary School Full-time | Long-term | September Start Twickenham
Veritas Education is working with a supportive and inclusive secondary school in Twickenham that is seeking a compassionate, resilient, and motivated SEMH Support Assistant to join their team. The Role
Supporting students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across Key Stages 3 and 4Providing 1:1 and small group interventions to help students regulate emotions, develop coping strategies, and engage positively with learningSupporting pupils who may display challenging behaviour, anxiety, low self-esteem, or emotional dysregulationBuilding positive and trusting relationships with students and acting as a consistent role modelAssisting teachers in creating a calm, supportive, and inclusive learning environmentWorking closely with the SENCO, pastoral team, and external professionals to support individual student needsEncouraging positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and personal development both inside and outside the classroomWhat the School Is Looking For
A patient, empathetic, and proactive individual who is passionate about supporting young peopleStrong communication and relationship-building skillsAn interest in SEMH, Special Educational Needs, youth work, psychology, counselling, mentoring, or related fieldsThe ability to remain calm and resilient in challenging situationsA positive attitude and commitment to helping students achieve their potentialPrevious experience supporting young people with additional needs is desirable but not essentialWhat We Can Offer
