About the Role
We are seeking a skilled, professional, creative, and dynamic Teacher to join our team. The position involves a commitment to offering students an excellent education through the implementation of the Science of Learning as expressed through the Catholic Education Canberra and Goulburn’s ‘Catalyst’ program.

The successful applicant will have a genuine love of teaching and delight in the wonderful exploration of ideas in the classroom.

This appointment is temporary as it is to replace an employee who is on parental leave and the incumbent is entitled to return to work early in accordance with the Fair Work Act 2009.

Key Responsibilities

  • Create a learning environment which stimulates learning and promotes excellence, and which accepts and acknowledges the needs of students to be both challenged and supported;
  • Use a variety of teaching and learning techniques to meet individual needs as far as is possible;
  • Identify learner needs, conferring with specialist staff in the school when necessary;
  • Present and explain criteria for assessment to students in advance;
  • Provide timely and useful feedback about completed assessment items to students;
  • Plan, prepare, record, and evaluate work to be undertaken by classes;
  • Mark and assess students’ work and keep complete and accurate records of each student’s progress;
  • Communicate with and establish effective and cooperative working relationships with all colleagues; and
  • Undertake playground, class, and other supervisions according to rosters as required. 

Qualifications

  • Must hold a relevant Working with Children registration and Teaching Accreditation; and
  • Must have commenced or completed relevant degree.

Selection Criteria 

  1. Well-developed self-awareness and the ability to reflection on your own performance, integrity, and resilience;
  2. The passion and expertise to work individually and collectively with students, to maximise the learning outcomes for each one, including those with additional learning needs;
  3. Demonstrated high-level teaching skills, particularly in Literacy and Numeracy across all key learning areas;
  4. An ability to engage learners in lessons and units of work that inspire curiosity and problem solving;
  5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including the capacity to develop productive and caring relationships with students, parents and staff;
  6. Demonstrated capacity and willingness to develop students’ unique capabilities through extra-curricular activities; and
  7. Appropriate qualifications and demonstrated experience in the teaching arena.
