About the Role:

Responsibilities include, but not limited to;

  • Prepare, set up, and support practical science activities by preparing samples, chemical solutions, equipment, demonstrations, and class sets, while assisting teachers and students with safe and effective laboratory and fieldwork practices.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and compliant laboratory environments, including storerooms and preparation areas, by managing chemical handling, waste disposal, SOPs, equipment calibration, maintenance, and hazard control in line with departmental and legislative requirements.
  • Manage science resources and assets, including inventory control, stocktakes, registers (hazardous substances, dangerous goods, dissection, asset registers), ordering, deliveries, storage, record keeping, and budget, petty cash, and corporate card administration.
  • Operate independently within the laboratory to prioritise daily tasks, troubleshoot issues, perform routine equipment maintenance, support STEM initiatives, and contribute innovative solutions to enhance teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders, including teaching staff, senior technicians, schools, organisations, and suppliers, to source resources, obtain quotes, coordinate fieldwork preparations, and support curriculum and STEM pathway development.
